ATLAS Combat Wingman combat vehicle with 25 mm Bushmaster gun presented

(Autonomous Tactical Light Armor System (ATLAS) Collaborative Combat Variant (CCV))

Armed A powerful 25 mm Bushmaster gun, this machine is the latest addition to a growing number of UGVs that are designed to provide greater flexibility to ground force commanders, primarily by reducing the risks to personnel on the battlefield.

Presented At the Land Forces 2024 exhibition in Melbourne by BAE Systems' Australian subsidiary, the ATLAS CCV is described as a “cost-effective, modular BM with an 8×8 wheel formula”. This design is in line with the manufacturer's vision of a future battlefield that “will include a combination of autonomous, semi-autonomous and human-machine commands that create a fighting mass and free soldiers from many of the most dangerous tasks.”

Developed In Australia, the ATLAS was already presented to the Australian Army, and the sample was in the camouflage colors of this service. The Australian Ministry of Defence enthusiastically supports unmanned systems, especially in airspace, but increasingly also at sea. BAE Systems is now trying to capitalize on the interest in these new technologies in the ground forces.
