“Dragon”, “Palyanitsa” and the guided air bomb: TOP-10 main novelties of the Ukrainian air defense

“Burner” is a hybrid weapon for non-hybrid warfare.

Among the greatest achievements of Ukrainian defenders — attacks on Russian refineries. In August, Western analysts reported that since the beginning of the year, the Armed Forces have attacked refineries and infrastructure in Russia and in occupied Crimea and Luhansk more than 60 times.
That's why Ukraine desperately needs more long-range weapons, and the defense is constantly creating something new in that direction. So, in August, the Ukrainian military for the first time hit the Russians with a new drone missile “Palyanitsa”.

“Palyanitsa”

Ukrainian ballistic missile is an unknown “beast”

“There was a positive test of the first Ukrainian ballistic missile. I congratulate our WPC on this.” — stated the head of state during a press conference on August 27.

If in the case of “Palyanitsa” we know at least the name, then even this remains unknown.
Some experts believe that we are talking about the so-called “Thunder-2”. Since 2013, it has been developed by KB “Pivdennoe” on the basis of preliminary developments under the projects “Borysfen” and BFRK (Multifunctional Missile Complex) “Sapsan”.

Controlled air bomb — the response of the Russian IPC

For a real advantage over the Russians (or at least for parity), Ukraine needs cheaper and more massive weapons.
Here it is worth recalling that the Russians already have one. Over the past year, air bombs with so-called IPC (Navigation and Correction Modules) have become the most threatening weapon of the Kremlin. Unlike the more expensive cruise and ballistic missiles, they are used by the thousands.
Fortunately, Ukraine has its own analogue of such weapons. At least, such a conclusion can be made on the basis of a video that was recently posted on the network. On it you can see the Ukrainian front-line bomber Su-24M, which carries a guided aerial bomb of an unknown type on its suspension.

FPV with machine vision — a revolution that has already taken place

This year, Ukraine received another simultaneously innovative and inexpensive type of weapon - back in March it became known that the Armed Forces for the first time used an FPV drone with machine vision.

Drone interceptor — the sky will be behind Ukraine

Another potentially revolutionary development from the world of UAVs is the drone interceptor. This year, several new products have been introduced that can effectively shoot down enemy UAVs. And on the video from the Kursk region, you can see how the FPV drone hits the Russian attack helicopter.
At the same time, Ukrainian developers are constantly progressing in this direction.

“‎Дрон -dragon”‎ — weapon for "‎випалювання"‎ aggressor

One of the most original developments was presented by Ukrainians quite recently.
If previous UAVs caused fire damage to the occupiers through the delivery of an explosive device, then in the case of "‎Драконом"‎, the destruction of the target is achieved due to “fires” created by a special substance.
In fact, this is a standard FPV drone that is loaded with about 500 grams of termite mixture. The chemical reaction is triggered by remote control shortly before the UAV appears near the target.

Sea Stalker — means of delivery and strike drone

Unmanned aerial vehicles have been used by Ukraine for more than one year. Back in 2023, Kiev began to actively use Sea Baby and MAGURA V5, thanks to which it was possible to sink, in particular, the newest Russian ship "‎Сергій Kotov”‎.
This year, the range of Ukrainian drones was expanded at the expense of the Stalker 5.0 boat. Reportedly, it can be used for reconnaissance and coastal patrol.

Domestic cartridges — something that is impossible to do without

War is not just a high-tech weapon. Therefore, in order to win, Ukraine needs to develop other areas.
This year, the Ukrainian military showed domestic cartridges. As indicated on the package, the photo of which was posted on the network, the batch was made in June of this year.

Ukrainian grenades are a good addition to the arsenal

Another achievement this year was the launch of the production of the first domestic grenades F-1 and RGD-5.
“The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has codified and authorized for use in the troops a defensive splinter grenade — an analogue of the Soviet F-1,” the Ministry of Defense said in a statement. It was also noted that the department had codified and adopted into service a long-range hand grenade, which is an analogue of the Soviet RGD-5
